The High Court on Friday asked the Directorate of Medical Education to frame special rules to provide reservation to the benefit of the single girl child for post-graduate (PG) studies in medicine.
Disposing a petition filed by MS Supreetha, a resident of Bangalore, Justice AS Bopanna directed the authorities to consider the representation of Supreetha to make the special rule.
After pursuing MBBS at Devaraj Urs Medical College in Kolar in 2008, Supreetha wanted to pursue Doctor of Medicine (MD), seeking a seat under the quota for single girl child.
The Union government had earlier provided reservation to single girl child in education, which benefits girls who are the only child in their families. Read More>>
