From plush private schools to modest Kendriya Vidyalayas. That’s the trend catching up among parents in the city now — thanks to the unruly attitude of several school managements who, despite a government order directing them to collect fee as per last year’s structure, are resorting to ‘goondaism’ to extract the hiked fee from parents. Interestingly, most parents are glad about the shift and admit that it has only improved their children’s learning process.
Parents are queuing up at no-frill city schools, which they say have been producing bright students for several years, despite an affordable fee structure. Clearly, the craze for high-end schools is gradually fading away.
“The only thing that my child is not getting now is an air-conditioned ride to school,” said a parent who has recently shifted his kid to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan from one of the plush private schools in Banjara Hills. He admits that the loss is rather insignificant considering that his child continues to get quality education – that too at one-fourth the price. “In fact he also has bigger grounds to play in his new school,” the parent added.
