Education is a dynamic process, it continued to evolve, diversity and extend its reach and coverage since the down of human history. Every country develops its system of education to express and promote its unique socio- cultural identity and also to meet the challenge of the times. The nation has reached a stage in its economic and technical development when a major effort must be made to derived the maximum benefit from the assets already created and to ensure that the fruits of change reach all sections of society. Education is the only highway to reach to that goal. With this vision, the National Policy on Education, 1986 was formulated. The enunciated policy frame work is robust and, can guide the educational development of the country for a long time to come. It is an important milestone in the history of the Education in the post- independence India.
