Amid reports that scores of Indian students were among those duped in a massive education scam in Australia, India on Saturday said it would be “ruthless” with the rogue agents who took gullible youth for a ride.
The Indian government would go after the unscrupulous education agents in the country as part of its effort to control the student crisis, External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna said in response to a question at a press conference here.
The Minister, who is on a five-day visit here, said he would deal with the agents issue separately with the Human Resource Development Ministry.
His comments came as reports here said a number of migration and education agents were “duping” foreign students, including Indians, in Australia and were also offering “fake” work experience certificates. Recently the Australian federal police raided the office of a Sydney-based Indian migration agent after ABC News claimed that he was involved in a “scam of exploiting foreign students.”
