Ignou in collaboration with Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) launched a certificate programme in early childhood special education enabling inclusion-cerebral palsy on Friday.
According to Ignou officials, the aim of the programme is to create an interdisciplinary team which will provide early intervention and education to children in the initial years (birth to eight years) in a variety of settings.
“It is a national level programme in the disability area of cerebral palsy. Seventy per cent of the seats are reserved for kin of children with disability, those who are disabled themselves, those who have two years of experience of working with the disabled, i.e. direct experience of disability and/ or those who have completed the awareness cum training packages which is already being offered as a non-credit programme through Ignou,” said an official. An applicant must have passed class X.
